Apple Watch is the newest product by Apple since the iPad in 2010, and the first new product since the death of Steve Jobs in 2011. This product is the first from CEO Tim Cook, setting a new standard in Apple’s launch cycle.
Apple has carefully considered the design of the watch which comes in favor to consumers since Apple Watch comes in three collections, Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition. They all vary in price point with the sport being the cheapest, and the edition being the most expensive.
On April 10th, Apple allowed pre orders to start exclusively online and try ons with appointments at a local Apple store. While all watches were allowed to be tried on, the Apple Watch Edition was restricted to only select retail stores.
“I think it is going to be massively successful because people are obsessed with information and its one less step to look at your wrist then to dig something [an iPhone] out of your pocket,” IEP teacher Mr. Petrotta said
Once the preorders started on April 10th at 3:01 AM EST, it took only 30 minutes for the release date to become delayed, with shipments getting pushed till June. 6 hours later, the watch was sold out. Many people who ordered the watch are on backorder as far as July.
“I like the fitness part of the watch, and it is something that I can rely on. I really like the fashion part of it as well, I personally like the pink Modern Buckle,” accountant Sarla Keswani said
As of April 15th, Apple has gained a million preorders, making the watch a successful new product.
